The Outlet Dance Project to Hold 13th Annual Festival at Grounds For Sculpture
Dance on Film Fest October 5th, Live Performances October 7th
The Outlet Dance Project is pleased to announce its upcoming 2-day festival at Grounds For Sculpture (GFS). Thursday, October 5th at 7:00pm is the Dance on Film Festival portion – an evening of stunning dance films from around the globe produced and created by women filmmakers and choreographers. Saturday, October 7th at 2pm is the annual Day of Dance. This family-friendly afternoon of gorgeous live performance is a spectacular and enchanting journey through GFS. Now in its 13th year, The Outlet Dance Project, is an annual festival of artists who identify or have identified as women sharing their vision through site-specific dance, film, and work created for the stage. Through collaboration with GFS, the festival celebrates the intersections of visual and moving arts, exploring relationships between sculpture and dance, between place and movement.
The Dance on Film Festival features short films, from locations as close as New Jersey and as far away as Iran, Ireland, Singapore, and Romania and exhibits the talents of Robin Bisio; Adrienne Brown & Eoghan O'Reilly; Genevieve Carson & Nathan Kim; Sze-Wei Chan, Jade Charon; Simona Deaconescu; Jaime Leigh Gianopoulos & Vanessa Young; Adam Grannick, Adriana Spencer, & Sydney Schiff; Daša Grgič & Luca Quaia; Kristin Hatleberg & Yuko Takebe; Yifei Liu; Ishita ‘Mili’; Miki Orihara & Tomoko Mikanagi; Loren Picciarelli & Mark Evans; Marta Renzi; Sonia Sabri, Savar Sabri, & Mat Beckett; The Samaya Wives; Hanna Satterlee & Otto Pierce; Tanin Torabi; Elisabet Velasquez, Connie Chavez, Alicia Cobb, Keomi Tarver, & Wendy Angulo, Anne Verheij & Miku Tsuchiya; Franziska Lisa Wolf. Q&A with several of the filmmakers will follow the screening.
This year’s live performances, during The Outlet Dance Project’s Day of Dance, are choreographed by Lora Allen, Mesma Belsare, Alice Blumenfeld, Camille Gamble, Paola Garcia, Merli V. Guerra, Pamela Hetherington, Kathleen Hickey in collaboration with Singrid Zahner, Nicole Loeffler-Gladstone, Cleo Mack, Vanessa Owen, Ramita Ravi & Shreekari Tadepalli, Ann Robideaux, Sahasra Sambhamoorthi, Blythe E. Smith, Maxine Steinman, and Micayla Wynn. Featuring indoor and outdoor performances, the Day of Dance is an extraordinary way to encounter the beauty of GFS.
Site-specific choreography feature interpretations of the following sculptures: Space of Stone by Magdalena Abakanowicz, Radiant Landscape by Daniel Clayman, Seat of Sound by Robert Cooke and Daniel Goode, War Memorial III by Linda Cunningham, Passage by Kevin Lyles, Pumpkins by John Ruppert, Two-Face Telescope by Elizabeth Strong-Cuevas, The Caged Bird Dances II by Meryl Taradash, and wind, water, stone by Elyn Zimmerman.

GROUNDS FOR SCULPTURE (GFS), celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2017, is located in Hamilton, New Jersey, and is a forty-two acre not-for-profit sculpture park, arboretum, and museum founded by Seward Johnson. Its collection features over 270 contemporary sculptures by renowned and emerging artists. Exhibitions change seasonally in six indoor galleries.
